Manual Extract: Powershift transmission – Pressure test – Solenoid swap test
It could be a sticking solenoid valve casing the transmission problems. For example, if the pressure reading was only low in gears 2, 7, 8 and 14, clutch 1M/solenoid Y is always engaged/energized in those gears.
Based on the ICU pressure readings, use the Engaged Clutch Pack table to determine which clutch is common to the low pressure readings. See Powershift transmission – General specification – Pressure test specifications and worksheets (21.113).
Thoroughly clean the range selector valve area before continuing.
1. Remove solenoid Y valve from the range selector
valve. Replace the Y solenoid with a new solenoid
valve. If a new solenoid valve is not available swap Y with another solenoid valve that is operating correctly.
2. Again drive the tractor in a clear and open area and record the transmission system pressures in each gear
both forward and reverse. Make note of shift quality in each gear.
If a new solenoid valve was installed and the transmission system pressure readings are consistent and shift quality has improved, troubleshooting is complete. If solenoid valves were swapped and the problem moves with the questionable solenoid, replace the questionable solenoid valve with a new solenoid valve. Troubleshooting is complete.
If the transmission system pressure readings are unchanged and the transmission shift quality remains poor, swap transmission solenoids back to original positions. Continue with the Transmission Clutch Pressure Test. See Powershift transmission – Pressure test (21.113).
