All measurements will be in millimeters. NOTE: At this point all bushings, screws, and shims are removed from the gear shift rods. To determine the required shims for the proper gear shift rod adjustment you must follow these procedures in order; the rear engagement bushing shim measurement, the front engagement bushing shim measurement, the piston bolt shim measurement, and the measurement in the neutral position. NOTE: The following procedure shows the gear shift rail adjustment for the 3rd/4th gear shift rod. The procedure is the same for the 1st/2nd gear shift rail except you would use preload measure tool 380003427 instead of 380003426 and preform the procedure on the 1st/2nd gear shift rail. 1. From the rear-side of the transmission, install the mounting shims driver tool 380003422 (1) on the 3rd/4th (3/4) gear shift rod. 2. On the front-side of the transmission, install the application load handle tool 380003425 onto the 3rd/4th gear shift rod. 3. Pull on the load handle tool 380003425 in order to apply a load of about 2 kg (4.5 lb) (gear engagement position). 4. Measure and document the calibrated length of preload measure tool 380003426 as dimension value (A). Example calibrated length (A) = 115 mm (4.5 in). NOTE: Use preload measure tool 380003427 when working on the 1st/2nd gear shift rail.
