1. The Coolant Is Rusty p r The Tractor Has Been Run Without The Proper Coolant Mixture.
It is important to have a solution of Ethylene Glycol in the cooling system at all times. The following example is an illustration:
A. A 50% mixture of ethylene glycol and a 7 PSI radiator cap will raise the boiling point of the coolant to 242° F (117°C).
B. A 70% mixture of ethylene glycol and a 7 PSI radiator cap will raise the boiling point of the coolant to 243° F (123° C).
C. A mixture of just water and a 7 PSI radiator cap will lower the boiling point of the coolant to 233° F (112°C).
2. Oil Is Leaking Into The Cooling System.
Engine oil can enter the cooling system in the following manner:
A. a bad head gasket.
B. leaking oil cooler.
C. cracked cylinder head or cylinder block.
Remove the oil cooler for inspection. Make a crankcase pressure check (blow by) on the engine.
