The rear PTO can be divided into several sections: – The clutch The clutch is located on the PTO upper shaftline and at the front of the PTO housing. – The upper shaftline The upper shaftline is equipped with a shaft and two gears which transmit the movement coming from the clutch to the driven gears. – The lower shaftline The lower shaftline receives the movement from the upper shaftline and transmits it to the implement via the intermediary of an output shaft. The output shaft is fitted with an interchangeable end fitting which may be: – of varying length – fitted with 6, 20 or 21 splines. – The brake The rear PTO is equipped with a brake located behind the clutch piston. When the PTO is not engaged, the brake is actuated by the clutch piston, which is maintained under pressure by the spring washers. – The controls The controls are controlled by the solenoid valves located at the rear of the PTO housing. When the controls are not supplied, they return mechanically to neutral position. Lubrication of the rear PTO components – The clutch and the upper shaftline The rear PTO driveshaft carries the lubrication oil under pressure to the upper shaftline and the clutch through the internal lines. The oil flow rate is controlled by a nozzle located at the entrance to the upper shaft and four restrictors located in the internal lines of the upper shaft. – The lower shaftline Lubrication is provided by splashing from moving parts and a jet of oil. The jet of oil is directed toward the shaft's internal line.
