The flow from pump will then travel to high pressure filter (3). The filter is a 10 micron filter. From filter oil will travel to accumulator charge valve assembly (4). Upon start-up, accumulator charge valve assembly (4) directs oil into accumulator (5). When accumulator is completely charged the access flow will return back to transmission sump. When operator depresses service brake pedal, service brake valve (7) allows oil from accumulator (5) to flow to front service brakes (8) and rear service brakes (9). The pressure that is stored in accumulator (5) permits full braking power even when transmission system is not in operation. A fully charged accumulator (5) will provide four to six full service brake applications before accumulator (5) requires recharging. NOTE: Engine must be running to recharge accumulator. When engine is not running, no more than four to six brake applications can be expected prior to completely emptying accumulator. Park Brake Operation of the Challenger MT945C, MT955C, MT965C, MT975C Hydraulic oil from transmission sump (1) flows to rear section of tri-section pump (2). When operator releases parking brake first spool in park brake valve (10) will shift allowing oil to flow from accumulator (5) to second spool. The oil will then unseat check valve located in second spool allowing oil to flow from accumulator (5) to park brake (11). When operator engages parking brake second spool in park brake valve (10) will shift allowing oil to flow back from park brake (11). The first spool will then allow a path for oil to return back to transmission.
