As the nozzle has to operate under very severe conditions (high temperature and high pressure) it is made of special material and manufactured with high precision. Especially the nozzle body and needle valve are processed as a pair, so they should be replaced at the same time. The nozzle should inject the highly pressurized fuel from the injection pump into the combustion chamber most adequately in spraying condition, spreading area, and time. The nozzles employed in this engine are throttle type. The throttle type nozzle has a unique injection property the pressure rising due to combustion advances mildly. This also means smooth combustion, which results in comparatively silent operation with less diesel knocking.  Valve closes – needle valve rests on seat. Valve opens – needle valve is lifted up.
