Steering System Index Manual Extract -Actions for Non-Reoccurring Malfunctions In cases where the malfunction does not reoccur, perform the actions below to determine the cause of the malfunction. -Verify that there is no DTC stored in the memory. -Conduct a reoccurrence test in "Reoccurrence" mode based on the questionnaire. Use the data (ECU voltage value, etc.) to determine the cause of the malfunction. -Assume that an electrical system wiring harness or connector is the cause of the malfunction. Shake these components by hand to verify whether or not a malfunction occurs and a DTC is generated. -Assume that an electrical system female connector terminal is the cause of the malfunction. Verify that the connection points are not defective. -Heat the accelerator pedal position sensor and other electrical components with a hair dryer. Verify whether or not the voltage value (resistance value) changes. -Verify whether or not malfunction symptoms occur under heavy engine loads (headlights, A/C, wiper switches ON, etc.) If any aftermarket electrical products have been installed, remove the products and verify that the malfunction symptoms do not occur.
